MKH Business
Limited provides Marketing Support to AAI Aerospace (the aerospace
operating division of the AAI Group). Their principal activities
include the design, development and production of innovative
test solutions for their prestigious clients in the civil, military
and R&D Aerospace for both Composite and Metallic Aerostructures
Structures for Production applications and for Maintenance Repair
& Overhaul (MRO) applications – For fixed wing and
rotary wing applications. AAI Aerospace's Productivity and Quality
Enhancing Equipment/Test Solutions also have many applications
in other non Aerospace/Aviation Structures.
We look
forward to receiving your enquiries for this equipment.
Products include:-
Thru skin
sensor technology DAS - Drill Alignment System - Hole Finder/"Blind"
Hole Spotter

Suitable
for use with both Composite and Metallic Structures, for Production
applications and for Maintenance Repair & Overhaul (MRO)
applications, where production, repairs and/or modifications
lead to a requirement to locate and align with existing holes
in structure beneath the component being drilled through. One
of the most time consuming activities in aerostructure manufacture
and repair is the location of buried fastener holes and the
subsequent alignment and drilling of the corresponding hole
in the aircraft skin. The AAI Aerospace hole finder is the most
accurate, smallest and lightest product on the market to fulfill
this function.

This equipment
can be supplied with a range of accessories that include a unique
and highly efficient Vortex Dust Extraction Plate, that removes
dust and swarf from close to the work surface and channels it
away from the work area. The Vortex Dust Extraction Plate is
particularly useful when drilling through Carbon Structures.
Bespoke accessories can also be developed, if required, for
specific applications. There is now already also a Heavy Duty
Vacuum Mounting System option available.
The thru skin sensor technology DAS - Drill Alignment System
- Hole Finder/"Blind" Hole Spotter has been supplied
to Airbus for use in aircraft Wing Production and it has been
approved by EADS.

The MT9000
portable multifunctional Online Resistance Test System
The
MT9000 is a portable battery operated multifunctional test unit,
it is used to perform Bond and Loop Resistance Testing during
the production, conversion, Maintenance Repair & Overhaul
(MRO) of Aerostructures Assemblies (for example it is used by
Airbus on all of their Civilian wing production programmes and
on their A400M Military Airlifter programme) to ensure electrical
conductivity of Aerostructures (e.g. when testing to ensure
a path for dissipation of energy from lightning strikes). To
see an Airbus A380 being struck by lightening and understand
the benefits of testing with suitable equipment such as the
MT9000, click here.
The MT9000
is also used to test aircraft wiring harnesses including: resistance
testing of resistive limits on Screen to Body Connections and
other such testing of Cable Shields and Shield Connections in
aircraft wiring bundles (both during Production and during subsequent
MRO Activities).
The AAI Aerospace
Product offers a highly accurate, customisable, solution that
can be used for a multitude of applications. It is a very effective
Loop Resistance Tester, likely to be much in demand as the Aerospace
Industry and Airline Industry begin to realise the benefits
of carrying out an accurate, specification defined, Loop Resistance
Test on Cables/Wiring Harnesses to measure Shield Path resistance
when the Cables/Wiring Harnesses are initially manufactured
and during subsequent Maintenance Repair and Overhaul (MRO)
activities. The AAI Aerospace Loop Resistance Tester can also
be used to assist Maintenance personnel to detect corrosion/loose
hardware within the aircraft's electrical circuits.
The MT9000
uses the latest Li-ion smart battery technology and it is capable
of automatically measuring metal to metal bond resistances using
a traditional 4-wire Kelvin technique. The unit when connected
to a central data-base, using a wireless or wired network, allows
the MT9000 to download test specifications and drawings and
upload test results. This provides an authenticated auditable
data trail and a subsequent reduction in test times by a factor
of 6. The MT9000 can measure bond resistance, loop resistance,
antistatic coating resistance and can operate in a standalone
multimeter mode capable of detecting loop faults, general measurements
of resistance and AC and DC voltage measurement. The MT9000
allows the operator to log on to a database which means that
the operator no longer has to manually input and verify the
test results, thus saving time and eliminating errors. It is
not possible to make readings with a unit that is out of calibration,
and authenticated measurements cannot be made by an untrained
user.
The MT-9000’s
Measurement Technology system allows semi skilled personnel
to make complex and highly accurate measurements, with a secure
and auditable data recording capability. The type and nature
of the tests to be carried out and the required pass-fail criteria
are automatically downloaded from a secure server via a radio
link. On completion of a successful test the results are automatically
uploaded to the server thus providing a truly paperless and
secure system. In production environments, this authenticated
auditable data trail gives a typical reduction in test times
of 80%. The unit is capable of a number of different measurements.
At present it is used to measure, contact resistance measurement
with a maximum range of 0-2 Ohms with a maximum resolution of
0.000001 Ohm i.e. 1 millionth of an Ohm, and non-contact loop
resistance measurement to the same specification. The system
guarantees adherence to quality and safety standards in a highly
regulated, safety critical manufacturing and/or MRO environment.
The unit
has been designed in a modular format so it is possible to change
the measurement interface to make any type of physical or electrical
measurement.

The
MT9000 can be supplied with a number of different probe types.
The standard bond probe includes pass-fail indication, LED illumination
for use in dimly lit areas and rugged peizo test acceptance
switch. AAI Aerospace can manufacture Probes to suit customers
specific requirements - Previous requests have included long
Probes (to reach particularly awkward locations). Loop probes
are manufactured using Chevin Arnoux current clamps; several
different diameters are available. The MT9000 can also be supplied
with a hands free clamp to attach to any metal surface allowing
for single user operation in difficult areas. The antistatic
resistance probes are fitted with 2” conductive rubber
pads with a contact resistance of less than 2 Ohm which means
that only light pressure needs to be applied, eliminating the
possibility of damaging the coating. Again the active probe
has pass-fail indication and a test acceptance switch.

MM10 -
Rivet Depth Gauge

The MM10
which ensures that fasteners are placed at the proper depth
in the work piece. It can be used in Production and/or in Maintenance
Repair & Overhaul (MRO) applications. The MM10 records the
fastener head deviation from the aerostructure skin surface
and performs statistical and mathematical calculations on the
resulting data. The information is used to adjust the settings
on riveting equipment and can be downloaded for quality assurance
purposes. To ensure a quality joint, it is important that the
fastener be placed at the proper depth in the workpiece. If
the countersink is too deep, the rivet joint ultimately created
could be weakened and subject to corrosion. If the countersink
is too shallow, the head can create aerodynamic drag.
